The factory

From Manger,
to all of Norway

Fjord3D is Norway's first filament factory. At Mangersnesvegen outside Bergen we refine carefully selected PLA raw material into finished filament, in small batches, with control over every single step.

  • Small batches, full control

Every production run is closely monitored for consistent diameter and even flow.

  • Norwegian surplus wheat as the goal

Our long-term goal is PLA based entirely on Norwegian surplus wheat. Read why it is hard and how we are working on it →

  • Jobs in the region

Every purchase supports Norwegian industry and local jobs in Western Norway.

The people behind it

Two founders.
One factory.

In late 2024 we decided that Norway should have its own filament, and have since built up the factory in Manger with our own hands: machines, electrics, production and the online shop.

  • We run the machines ourselves, every roll is handled by the people you see here
  • Questions? You get answers from the people who actually make the filament
  • Follow everyday life at the factory on TikTok, Facebook and YouTube

The process

From pellet to finished roll

The entire production happens under one roof in Manger, here's the journey your filament takes.

PLA pellets, the raw material for the filament
STEG 01Carefully selected raw material

PLA pellets are inspected and dried before production for even, predictable flow.

The extruder nozzle, 1.75 mm filament coming out
STEG 02Precise extrusion

The pellets are melted and drawn into 1.75 mm filament with continuous temperature control.

Laser based diameter measurement of filament, 1.750 mm
STEG 03Measuring and winding

The diameter is measured continuously while the filament is cooled and wound onto cardboard spools.

Packed spools ready to ship from Manger
STEG 04Packed and shipped

Vacuum-packed with desiccant and shipped from the warehouse in Manger, usually the same day.
