Fjord3D is Norway's first filament factory. At Mangersnesvegen outside Bergen we refine carefully selected PLA raw material into finished filament, in small batches, with control over every single step.
Every production run is closely monitored for consistent diameter and even flow.
Our long-term goal is PLA based entirely on Norwegian surplus wheat. Read why it is hard and how we are working on it →
Every purchase supports Norwegian industry and local jobs in Western Norway.
In late 2024 we decided that Norway should have its own filament, and have since built up the factory in Manger with our own hands: machines, electrics, production and the online shop.
The entire production happens under one roof in Manger, here's the journey your filament takes.
PLA pellets are inspected and dried before production for even, predictable flow.
The pellets are melted and drawn into 1.75 mm filament with continuous temperature control.
The diameter is measured continuously while the filament is cooled and wound onto cardboard spools.
